This month we will explore a variety of methods for achieving a circle in your quilting and the links to the patterns, tutorials, tips and inspirational pieces will be posted here for you to refer to. A link to this post will be found at the top of the blog under the heading Free Quilting Patterns, Techniques, Tutorials and Inspiration.

Our First Tutorial is by Lori Holt the designer of The Circle Rulers.
The pattern for the quilt above is included in her Ruler Set.

If you don't want to wait for our drawing but want to get yourself a set of rulers right away, you can order them online at The Fat Quarter Shop

Missouri Quilt Company has a fun video tutorial for their Cheerio Quilt.  Although in this video they use a different method to obtain your circles, you can make this quilt easily, using the Lori Holt Circle Rulers. When selecting an adhesive backing for your circles, be sure to select one that is very thin, I am fond of the Pellon Wonder Under #805. It doesn't gum up your needles when you are piecing, doing applique or quilting.

Be sure to check back as the month progresses, we will be adding more and more fun links to inspire you!  And if you have a link that you would like to share, please e-mail me at SisterOfTheDivide@gmail.com

Happy Quilting!

  1. My favourite designer? That's a tough question because I have fabric that I love from so many designers. So I'll pick one of my recent purchases: Holly Taylor for Moda.

  9. I'd have to say my favorite designer is Riley Blake. Love her bright colors, polka dots and Chevrons. Winning these circle rulers would be great with some of Riley's fabric.

  17. I'm still new and learning about designers and fabric lines. I'm trying to love or hate fabric on its own merits, not on the designer name. A quick look at selvages says I like Blank, Anderson & Moda amongst others.
